Secrets to booking celebrity guests on podcasts
Discover the art of crafting compelling pitch emails, navigating through agents and managers, and building genuine connections with high-profile individuals.
I managed to secure high-profile guests for my podcast despite not having any connections in Hollywood. Here are 3 key points to keep in mind.
Leveraging Bigger Platforms:
Join a platform that is larger than your own, especially when starting as a podcaster. Building a substantial following takes time, so aligning with a platform with an established audience can help attract big-name guests. Reach out to blogs and newsletters with a relevant audience.
Dedication and Hard Work:
Hard work and dedication is required for success. It took me nine months of guest outreach to book someone like Paris Hilton. I maintain a spreadsheet with hundreds of potential guests. I have consistently spent five to ten hours per week for several years on guest outreach. It involves identifying the right contacts, such as managers or PR teams, and following up persistently without being annoying.
Building Genuine Relationships:
Don't be annoying and form genuine relationships with guests. Most of my interviews come from referrals from previous guests. Treating guests well, not asking for favors, and offering something of value, like well-researched interviews and shareable clips, is crucial in building these relationships.
I encourages aspiring podcasters to create a list of dream guests, both short-term and long-term targets, and put in the effort to build relationships and grow their podcast. Success in securing big-name guests requires dedication, persistence, and a focus on what you can offer rather than what you can get from them.
